The Swans Reserves returned to their old ways on the weekend - after a 34-point win last week - beating Queanbeyan by 129 points on Sunday at Margaret Donoghue Oval.

The Swans dominated the midfield in the first quarter but poor disposal and seven behinds by the 20 minute mark meant the margin at quarter time was only ten points despite the Swans having ten scoring shots, with Simon Phillips and Matt O’Dwyer the only players to goal in the first term.

The Swans focussed attack in the first ten minutes of the second quarter but only managed one goal in that time. It set a trend for the rest of the term as they booted five goals – Phillips nailed two and Luke Brennan, Ryan Brabazon and Tim Schmidt one apiece – along with six minor scores to the main break for a 31-point advantage despite having 21 scoring shots to ten.

Although the Swans were dominating the midfield, and Stephen Doyle and earl Shaw were winning in the ruck in the third quarter, it was not reflected in the scoreboard.

By the 21 minute mark the Swans had kicked ten goals and 21 behinds for the game.

O’Dwyer kicked two for the term, Kristin Thornton, Brabazon, Bruest and Van Meurs also goaled to give the visitors a 58-point lead at the final change.

The Swans had 13 goals at the start of last quarter and by the end of it they had doubled the tally. Phillips took his contribution to seven – nailing four for the term - while Matthew Laidlaw kicked two.

Sean Dempster, Thornton, Jarred Moore, Nick Smith, Irvine, Van Meurs and Brennan also booted six pointers to make the final margin 129 points.

Schmidt (onball), Brabazon (wing) and Moore (onball) were significant in the victory and Jonathan Simpkins, Sam Rowe, Thornton and Phillips also impressive.

The Swans take on Ainslie next week at the SCG at 9.50am as the curtain raiser to the Swans vs. Port Adelaide seniors match.
