MELBOURNE is still optimistic of retaining midfielder Brad Green, but the versatile Demon has yet to make up his mind on his playing future.

On the third day of the exchange period, Melbourne general manager of football operations Chris Connolly said the club was still waiting to hear of Green's intentions.

"Nothing's happened on the Brad Green front," Connolly told melbournefc.com.au.

"We know that Collingwood and Sydney have spoken to him and we want him to re-sign here [at Melbourne] at that's where it's at.

"So we're hoping he commits to Melbourne."

Connolly said the club will need to know what Green is doing before Friday.

"We'll need to know tomorrow night [Thursday], one way or the other," he said.

"I haven't spoken about a deadline."

Connolly said Fremantle ruckman Robbie Warnock and Geelong midfielder Brent Prismall were still priorities for the club.

"We've certainly got our toe in the water with those two," Connolly said.

"We're pretty keen to keep pursuing those two and we're certainly in the hunt.

"We've certainly spoken again and reinforced our position and it's pretty positive."

The 2008 AFL exchange period runs from October 6-10, 2008. Please note, no trades are official until paperwork has been accepted by the AFL and formally recognised after 2pm EST on Friday, October 10.
