THE 2008 Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year awards have commenced, with fans once again being asked to help decide the seasons best mark and goal.
In 2008 the Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year awards will encompass the entire 2008 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, including the 2008 Toyota AFL Finals Series.
Each week during the 2008 Toyota AFL Premiership Season the AFL's expert panel will select the three best marks and goals of the round which will be posted on afl.com.au/markgoal.
Fans can view the nominations and cast their vote for the weekly winner, with the mark and goal receiving the highest number of votes progressing through to the final along the expert panel's nomination.
Voting will be open from Tuesday after each round through to the following Sunday night. At the end of the 2008 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, the overall winners of both awards will be decided by the AFL All-Australian Selection Committee from the pool of weekly nominations.
AFL CEO and All-Australian Selection Committee chairman Andrew Demetriou welcomed the change for the awards to include the finals series.
“The Toyota AFL Finals Series showcases football of the highest standard and we are pleased that the mark and goal of the year awards can now recognise the spectacular football that is played throughout September," Demetriou said.
“Exciting marks and goals are what make our game so unique and it is fantastic that our fans will once again have a say in deciding the 2008 Toyota AFL Mark and Goal of the Year Awards,” he said.
