PORT Adelaide midfielder Hamish Hartlett wants to stay at Alberton.
Hartlett travelled to Melbourne on Tuesday to meet with several Victorian clubs including Essendon.
AFL.com.au understands Hartlett then met with Port coach Ken Hinkley, captain Travis Boak and other leadership group members on Wednesday when he was assured he remained a required player at Alberton.
Hartlett's manager, Michael Doughty of TLA, told AFL.com.au that barring "a dramatic change" his client would be at Port next season.
"Hamish has been to Melbourne and met with a few clubs just to have a look and see what opportunities were out there," Doughty said.
"But it now looks highly unlikely that a trade will happen.
"It's hard when a player is on a long-term deal to get something done and it's not only a matter of finding a club that Hamish is happy with, but making sure that club can put together a deal that satisfies Port.
"It was a good exercise for Hamish to go through, but he's a Port man through and through and he thinks that's the best place for him to continue his career.
"Both the club and Hamish are comfortable with that and unless there's a dramatic change he won't be going anywhere."
Hartlett, 26, is contracted to the Power until the end of 2021.
He only played 17 games this season because of injury and became vice-captain this year.
Essendon list manager Adrian Dodoro confirmed on NAB AFL Trade Radio on Thursday morning that the Bombers had met with Hartlett this week.
There have been reports that Richmond offered a future first-round draft pick to the Power for Hartlett.
