It was Jesse White's turn on Sunday to put his hand up for a spot in the side as the finals draw closer, equalling his career best of four goals in the Swans' 47-point demolition of Richmond at the SCG.
The 25-year-old has booted eight goals in his past three games, managing to hold down a key forward post in the absence of the injured Sam Reid and Roberts-Thomson, and combining well with fellow tall Kurt Tippett.
Coach John Longmire said White has been able to apply himself and take advantage of his opportunities, something he has not managed to do in the past.
"He sees a spot in the team and has been pretty consistent," Longmire said.
"He seems to level out those peaks and troughs at times that he had and is playing consistent footy now."
It hasn't been just White who has grabbed his opportunity with both hands.
Tom Mitchell had 26 touches and two goals in his eighth game of AFL football on Sunday and there have been others who have jumped up in recent weeks as the Swans chalked up seven wins from the past eight games.
"It is a different looking team," Longmire said.
"We've been pleased with that because we have got some different players playing the game this year than what we had last year and we have still been competitive, which is a real credit to the older players and a real credit to the younger players as well who have grabbed their opportunities."
The Swans have given five players their AFL debut in 2013 - Mitchell, Brandon Jack, Dane Rampe, Jed Lamb and Xavier Richards.
