This Thursday, 7th August, celebrates 150 years of Australian Football. This day marks the first recorded game of Australian Football being played.
POWER players are involved visiting six schools across metropolitan Adelaide. Above the normal school visits scheduled that day, Power stars will be very busy kicking balls around to help celebrate AFL’s birthday.
All schools are encouraged to celebrate. It could involve completing some AFL themed lessons, playing a game of Australian Football, running a lunchtime kicking or handballing competition, or even wearing a footy jumper/scarf to school. The options are endless.
It is a great opportunity for all supporters to celebrate Australian Football. Kevin Sheedy [former Essendon coach] says-
“I encourage all Australians – students, families and workers across the country - to get involved in the Kick Around Australia Day festivities by having a kick wherever they are on the day,” Sheedy said.
“Don’t leave the house without a football; when I go to work I always have a footy in my car.”
All POWER players and staff will be bringing their footballs to work on Thursday be a part of the nationwide celebrations. Will you?
