In doing so he creates League history, as his father John and grandfather Leo Murphy were also 100-game players - a feat never before achieved by three consecutive generations of any other footballing family in 114 seasons years of the VFL/AFL.
Marc becomes the third youngest Carlton player to achieve the 100-game milestone at 23 years and 32 days old, behind Lance Whitnall (21 years 275 days) and Robert Walls (21 years 338 days). He replaces Ryan Houlihan, who was 23 years 78 days old when he turned out for his 100th senior match, in round 3, 2005 against Collingwood at the MCG.
