They’ve handed out sports awards at St Mary’s school in Griffith. They’ve done clinics in Wollongong and opened a branch of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy in Coffs Harbour.
Sydney Swans players have been out and about across NSW today, from the south coast to the north as far as Coffs, and out to the western parts around Griffith and Wagga Wagga as they spread the word about AFL and the mighty red and white.
We asked the players to send us photos from their phones and so far they’ve obliged with a few happy snaps.
Our resident chief blogger, Ted Richards of The Richards Report, was first to file, sending back photos from Griffith, where he and Nick Smith are spending today and tomorrow.
They presented swimming sports awards at St Mary’s and also visited Hanwood Primary School.
Tadhg Kennelly played photographer down in Wollongong, where he did a clinic with Matt Spangher, Ben McGlynn and his fellow Irishman Chris McKaigue.
And Spangher is turning out to be a big asset to us here at the Swans in more ways than one since he came across from West Coast. He sent back a few fantastic shots from Wollongong, including some beauties of Benny McGlynn and Tadhg. Check out our Swans Facebook page for more pics.
Dan Hannebery has promised to report in from Port Macquarie, where he and Mike Pyke have found plenty of local kids enthusiastic about AFL.
Craig Bolton was also using his multimedia skills to send us photos of Jesse White and Brett Meredith at a clinic on the Central Coast. Jarrad McVeigh and Paul Bevan were also on the Central Coast, just north of Sydney, where they grew up and played junior footy together, so it was a trip home for them.
Shane Mumford got in on the act, sending us a happy shot of Lewis Johnston and Gary Rohan keeping the kids happy in Coffs Harbour.
Mumford says one of the highlights of his day was when Johnston tried to get on the wrong plane to get to Coffs ...
Thanks boys, and keep up the good work!
