It will be the first time Fevola has played against his former Carlton team-mates since he was traded to the Lions back in October.
While Fevola’s selection will undoubtedly occupy most of the headlines, the match will also see the return of some other big names to the Lions’ senior line-up including Captain Jonathan Brown.
Brown has declared himself a certain starter for his first competitive hitout for 2010 against the Blues while Mitch Clark and Josh Drummond are also set to play after being rested in the Club’s opening NAB Cup match.
Troy Selwood, Albert Proud and Pearce Hanley have also been added to the squad along with new recruits Andrew Raines and Matt Maguire who will don Lions colours for the first time in an official match this Friday.
While some big names have returned to the senior line-up, others will be rested as part of the Club’s player management during the pre-season.
After playing in the team’s opening NAB Cup match, regular starters Jed Adcock, Daniel Merrett, Daniel Rich, Brent Staker and Matthew Leuenberger will all remain in Brisbane while Simon Black, Luke Power and Ash McGrath are the other notable absentees from the Lions’ side.
The travelling players and coaches will also be attending the Club’s annual Victorian Pre-Season Family Day this Saturday 27 February at The Manningham Club in Bulleen from 9:30am.
It will be the first time for Victorian fans to meet and greet the some of the Lions players in 2010 including skipper Jonathan Brown and new recruit Brendan Fevola.
