In guidelines administered to clubs this week, and revealed on Thursday night's The Footy Show, the AFL must be made aware of all interviews with young talent.
The move comes on the back of some incidents where clubs have left young players distressed by the experience of an interview.
In one incident alone last year, 13 club officials sat in on an interview with a teenager, who felt intimidated during the gathering.
Clubs must now formally advise the AFL when, and with whom, the interview will be taking place.
The guidelines strongly reiterated no form of physical, mental or medical screening could take place in the club meetings.
On at least one occasion last year, a player was asked to complete an online questionnaire, which included a link to 300 psychology-related questions.
