NORTH Melbourne’s Corey Jones looks likely to play this weekend despite suffering concussion during the club’s round one defeat to the Bombers last weekend.

Dean Laidley’s side take on Richmond in the round two clash, dubbed the ‘Eureka game’.

Both Laidley and Richmond coach Terry Wallace talked at altitude about the fixture as they attended the Eureka Skydeck pre-match press conference at Southbank.

“He trained this afternoon and passed his medical test so we would have thought that he’ll play,” Laidley said of Jones.

The North Melbourne boss was hopeful his charges would be more competitive at the weekend after they fell by 55-points against the Bombers.

“It’s a hard, competitive game of footy and we need to get back to playing that sort of footy this week because we were very poor in that area last week,” he said.

Despite Matthew Lloyd’s six-goal-haul, Laidley said the blame did not lie solely with the defence.

“I wouldn’t have thought it was our defenders' fault, I thought it was more of our midfielders' fault. One of our key defenders or maybe three of them didn’t have their best games on top of that.”
