Adelaide will not ban its players from drinking alcohol this season.

Coach Neil Craig has dismissed an article in The Advertiser today which suggests he has asked the leadership group to “adopt” an alcohol ban.

“That is not correct,” Craig said. “I have not asked for any such ban and I was not asked if this was true.

“The use of alcohol and its impact on player behaviour and performance has been and will be discussed at this football club, as are many issues. Our players already have rules in place about alcohol use during the week, after games and when injured.

“Some players may make their own decision not to drink during the season but I’m not convinced a long-term ban is the answer.”
