NEXT week's game against Hawthorn at the MCG is all that is occupying Gold Coast coach Rodney Eade, despite him remaining unsigned beyond this season.

After a stirring win against West Coast at Metricon Stadium, the Suns have won four of their first 10 games but have won just one game away from home.

Eade told RSN on Monday morning he was keen to remain as Suns coach beyond this season, but was prepared to be patient.

"Yes, I do want to [coach Gold Coast]", Eade said.

"I don't think anything is set in stone in footy. Things can change in six weeks, let alone six months, so we'll just wait and see."

Eade said Suns players had been working hard on building resilience so that they hung in games when momentum began to turn against them.

However he said it would take time for the work to yield dividends with the inexperienced group.

"We're making ground, but we will still be inconsistent because we are young," Eade said.

Gold Coast was cruelled with injuries in 2016 and a poor loss to the Brisbane Lions in round one has seen the team playing catch-up for most of the year, but wins against the Eagles, Geelong and Hawthorn at home have shown what the team is capable of.

Eade said Adelaide recruit Jarryd Lyons had added some steel to the midfield to help out Gary Ablett and David Swallow, Jack Leslie had been impressive in defence, and the return of Pearce Hanley in recent weeks had also helped.
