Tom Cutler, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against Lachlan Murphy, Adelaide Crows, during the third quarter of the Round 18 match between the Brisbane Lions and the Adelaide Crows, played at the Gabba on Saturday July 21, 2018.

Other Incidents
Contact between Fremantle’s Brandon Matera and Essendon’s Zac Merrett from the fourth quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The ball was bounced in the centre and Merrett was seeking to take possession of a loose ball. As Merrett takes possession and prepares to handball, he is pushed in the back by his opponent Michael Walters. Matera, who is coming towards the contest, is in a near-stationary position when contact is made with Merrett. It was the view of the Match Review Officer that Matera did not elect to bump and his actions were not a decision to bump or make forceful contact from front-on. No further action was taken.
Contact between the Brisbane Lions’ Daniel McStay and the Adelaide Crows’ Tom Doedee from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Doedee has taken possession of the ball when McStay comes towards him to tackle. Doedee lowers himself in a bid to avoid the tackle and McStay makes high contact to the Adelaide player. It was the view of the Match Review Officer that McStay’s actions were a legitimate attempt to tackle. No further action was taken.
Contact between the Geelong Cats’ Tom Hawkins and Melbourne’s Bailey Fritsch from the third quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. Hawkins made contact to Fritsch with an open hand in a pushing motion to the chest area, with incidental high contact made at the time. It was the view of the Match Review Officer it was not a reportable offence and no further action was taken.
Contact between West Coast’s Shannon Hurn and the Western Bulldogs’ Mitch Honeychurch from the third quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The ball is handballed in front of Honeychurch, who is running forward and seeking to take possession. Hurn is in the path of the Bulldogs’ player and takes up a stationary position. Honeychurch does not take possession of the ball and has his head down when contact is made with Hurn. In the instant before contact is made, Hurn turns his body slightly to protect himself and braces for inevitable contact. It was the view of the Match Review Officer that Hurn did not have a realistic alternative way to approach the contest. No further action was taken.
