Geelong full-forward James Podsiadly has confirmed that he is close to agreeing to a new deal with the Cats.
Podsiadly, who made his debut this season as a 28 year old, has booted 29 goals in his first 10 games. As a mature age rookie Podsiadly is one of the bargain buys of the season, and he told the Footy Show that he has a new offer from the club and is close to putting pen to paper.
“Yes, I do (have a contract offer),” Podsiadly said.
“I don’t think there are any doubts that I’ll be playing for the Cats next year and I’m excited about that.”
Cats skipper Cameron Ling lauded the latest crowd favourite at Skilled Stadium.
“He’s one of those guys that can take a contested mark and a kick goals,” Ling said of Podsiadly.
“There’s no doubt he’ll have plenty more years at the Geelong footy club. He prepares professionally and it’s amazing he didn’t break into AFL earlier. He’s a great guy to have around the club.”
