AFL Women's premiership coach Bec Goddard will lead an Allies team in the second phase of the NAB AFLW Under-18 Championships in Queensland.
The Allies, competing in the carnival for the first time, will be made up of players from the Northern Territory, South Australia and Tasmania. They will compete against Western Australia, Queensland, NSW/ACT, Vic Metro and Vic Country, on the Gold Coast from July 10-14.
Goddard said the Allies concept provides players from developing states the opportunity to test themselves against the best talent in the country.
"I'm looking forward to coaching at the championships as the standard of under-age women's football continues to improve throughout the country," she said.
"The championships play an important role in developing the next generation of AFLW players and I expect to see many of the players feature in the NAB AFL Women's Draft in October."
Goddard will be assisted by GWS players Renee Forth (who is also an AFL Women’s Academy coach) and Jessica Dal Pos and former Vic Metro captain and Melbourne AFLW player Katherine Smith.
