The Hawthorn Football Club celebrated its second year at its home base at Waverley Park on Friday with staff and selected players who will feature in Sunday’s Round 1 pre-season clash against Sydney at Aurora Stadium.

Saturday will mark the occasion of two years since the doors opened at the hawks state-of-the-art training and administrative facility at the former VFL Park.

New recruits Cyril Rioli and Cameron Stokes were joined by teammates Beau Muston, Garry Moss and Travis Tuck to celebrate with staff. Celebratory brown and gold cake was cut to mark the occasion as the Hawks look forward to future years and continued development at Waverley.

The Hawks headquarters features a fully equipped gymnasium, indoor running track, swimming pool, recovery ice baths, HawksNest merchandise store, the recently opened Hawks museum, administrative centre and one of the best training surfaces in the AFL.
