GEELONG forward Brandan Parfitt can accept a $2000 fine for rough conduct on Tiger Jayden Short, but will be free to play against Hawthorn at the MCG next Saturday.

Parfitt received a free kick for holding the ball from the officiating umpire in the third term of Friday night's game, but replays showed Short's head whipped into the MCG turf as a result of the momentum of the tackle.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian charged Parfitt with rough conduct, with the incident assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head.

A $3000 fine was issued to the Cats' youngster, but he can accept a $2000 fine with an early plea.

No other incidents were assessed in Friday night's game.
