WESTERN Bulldogs defender Stephen Tiller has emerged as a potential pawn in the multiple trades his club is looking at making this week after requesting a trade elsewhere.

The 23-year-old, who failed to break into the senior side this year after spending the pre-season recovering from groin surgery, has asked to be moved on in the hope of more opportunities at AFL level.

"He's overseas at the moment with the rest of the Bulldogs' playing list on their end of season trip," Tiller's manager and former teammate Marty Pask told Trade Week Radio on afl.com.au.

"I've said to him, 'Go away and let myself and [football manager] James Fantasia see what we can do'.

"James and I have a good relationship at the Western Bulldogs and we had a chat last week about what we feel we could do."

Pask said there was still a big chance Tiller could remain a Bulldog in 2011 if a trade wasn't struck.

"It was just thought if there was another opportunity for Stephen somewhere else where he could squeeze into a backline or even as a forward possibly, that certainly we'll look at it," he said.

"It might be best for Stephen to get further opportunities somewhere else but certainly don't discount him being at the Western Bulldogs next year."

Tiller has played 21 senior games since his 2007 debut but figured mostly in the VFL this year when he was fit.

The Bulldogs have already stated their interest in Geelong midfielder Nathan Djerrkura, Sydney Swans' young gun Patrick Veszpremi, Carlton's Andrew Walker and Brisbane Lions' speedster Justin Sherman.

Sherman has nominated the Dogs as his preferred destination.
