What the 2015 AFL Season Guide said: Shapes as an important year for the No.4 selection from the 2012 NAB AFL Draft. He has played 18 games, but just four in 2014. He had his appendix removed midway through the season, but had done little to excite before then. The question remains whether Toumpas can show the attributes he displayed at under-18 level in the AFL. The Demons need a player with Toumpas' characteristics, running and carrying the ball, and the 20-year-old needs to make himself that man.

Where will he play? Port will rely on Toumpas to display his dash and carry output, and continue his development in the midfield.

State league form: Toumpas demonstrated in patches that he could win the contested ball and use it effectively playing for VFL affiliate Casey. This form, however, did not progress much further at the elite level.

2015: Played nine games for the Demons this season. He was forced to bide his time in the VFL after round 14, but struggled to earn a senior call-up for the remainder of the year.

Why Melbourne traded him: Despite showing glimpses of his potential in a young team, his development did not gather much pace in his three years at the club. Toumpas perhaps failed to live up to the expectations of a high draft pick and his confidence took a hit as a result. He now moves back to his home state of South Australia and should profit from a fresh start in familiar surrounds.

What does he need to work on? Inconsistency cost Toumpas a regular spot in the Demons' line-up, while his decision-making with ball in hand and foot skills will also need to improve at the Power. The youngster should benefit from a full pre-season in the gym and an injury-free start to his 2016 campaign.
