AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou claims to have been left ‘shocked’ after an extensive tour of North Melbourne’s new $15M facility on Monday.

Joined by his fellow commission members as well as chairman Mike Fitzpatrick and members of the AFL’s management team, Demetriou says the group couldn’t help but be in awe of what the club has achieved in the past twelve months.

"It's just a magnificent facility,” he told the waiting media outside the front entrance of the building.

“I, like my fellow commissioners and members of our management team are just thrilled and excited and shocked really because it's a magnificent facility…”

North CEO Eugene Arocca escorted the party through the club’s new headquarters which includes a large gym, change area, medical facilities and innovative Learning and Life Centre.

“…it's a great space,” Demetriou added. “…it's innovative and it's a real credit to everyone involved in the North Melbourne Football Club that they've been able to put this facility together, it's accessible to the community and it's just a really wonderful thing to be seeing. They should all be congratulated."

Demetriou’s comments come just a day after the Kangaroos upset reigning premier Geelong in Round One of the NAB Cup.

Coach Brad Scott was able to break through for his first official win at AFL level after unleashing a young, attacking side at Etihad Stadium against the Cats.
