COLLINGWOOD'S AFLW playing stocks have taken another hit, with experienced midfielder Melissa Kuys undergoing surgery on her left Achilles.
Playing for Hawthorn in the VFLW competition, Kuys suffered the injury in the opening minutes of the qualifying final win over, coincidentally, Collingwood.
The Magpies described it is a longer-term injury and said there was no concrete timeline for Kuys' return. However, the club did not rule her out of the AFLW season, which begins on the first weekend of February.
The Magpies have already lost best and fairest and NAB AFLW Rising Star Chloe Molloy for the season with a Linsfranc injury to her right foot.
In other AFLW team news, Adelaide forward Jenna McCormick will play seven matches for the Brisbane Roar in the upcoming W-League (soccer) season, before returning to Adelaide in December for pre-season training.
McCormick, 24, played for Medkila IL in the top-tier women's soccer competition in Norway after helping the Crows to the inaugural AFLW premiership in 2017 and had a stint with Adelaide United in the W-League late last year.
