CARLTON will wait to assess the weather and the state of the Domain Stadium surface before confirming Levi Casboult's inclusion despite the ruckman being named to face West Coast on Friday night.
Rain has fallen in Perth every day this week and it has been unrelenting on Thursday with more showers forecast for Friday.
Casboult has been included in the Blues line-up alongside former Western Bulldog Jason Tutt to replace Dale Thomas (shoulder) and Kristian Jaksch (ribs).
Emergencies Dennis Armfield and David Ellard are also in Perth should the Blues opt to make a late change.
"I haven't been on the ground yet," coach Mick Malthouse said.
"I'm going to have a look at the ground now and see if it changes my mind. I'd rather wait until tomorrow. We've got 24 players over here. I don't see any reason to change the side right now."
Malthouse is wary of how Cameron Wood will match up against Eagles ruckmen Nic Naitanui and Scott Lycett given how well the duo performed last week against the Western Bulldogs.
"I think it starts and finishes in the middle," Malthouse said.
"Naitanui is a big hurdle, and Lycett is a young man coming through playing some good football. So we have to be careful of how we approach the ruck."
The Blues held a one-hour skills session on the slippery Domain Stadium surface on Thursday evening.
Malthouse said Tutt, who was selected in the pre-season draft, is certain to make his debut for the club after being unlucky to miss out last week.
"We looked at Tutty early last year and just watched him on the way through," Malthouse said.
"He's quick, he kicks the ball a long way, he's got a habit of kicking goals at the right time.
"He's got a very good capacity to run games out at quite a good velocity. He was bit stiff last week not getting a game."
