The heart of Adelaide’s shopping precinct played host to some fierce sporting action today when the TeamVodafone Pit Stop Challenge took place.
Under the guidance of TeamVodafone V8 Supercar stars, Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup, four Power stars were involved in a race to change the wheel of a V8 Supercar as fast as possible.
Two teams represented the Power, Warren Tredrea and Michael Pettigrew while the other was Chad Cornes and Daniel Motlop.
Cornes and Motlop had no dramas coasting through their elimination heat and into the final. For Tredders and Petters though things weren’t as smooth, learning the early lesson that it’s easier to pull a wheel off a car after all the nuts had been undone. Once the boys had mastered this they progressed to the final.
The Cornes – Motlop team was an early casualty in the final. Unfortunately the move from front to rear wheel didn’t suit them and they finished the TeamVodafone challenge third.
Coming up against Andrew Marat from FHM and the diminutive Rebekah Devlin from The Advertiser, Tredders and Petters had their reputation as “real men” on the line as they sought to take grand final honours. In the end it was a no contest as the Power boys changed two tyres before their opposition had finished their first.
Tredders revealed that the win was probably more due to his teammate Petters than himself. Turns out Michael Pettigrew is a big V8 Supercar fan and has in fact changed a few tyres in his day.
A great day was had by all, thanks to Vodafone!
