The fans have voted for Collingwoodfc.com.au Fans' Choice defenders of the decade and after a week of polling, the results have been tallied and calculated.

Receiving an overwhelming 80% of first-place votes and 26% of the overall weighted vote, two-time Copeland Trophy winner James Clement was a lock in most supporters’ backlines.

Coming in at second place is Simon Prestigiacomo, the veteran defender who is heading into his 15th season received the highest number of votes but only 12% of first place votes (42% of second-place votes).

Former Magpie Shane Wakelin (15% of total weighted votes) finished just ahead of Heath Shaw (14%), who finished in third place in last year’s best and fairest.

Skipper Nick Maxwell received the third highest number of votes which secured his place in the back six.

In a tight race for the final position, Harry O’Brien nudged out Ben Johnson, who was unlucky to miss out after notching 185 games and finishing twice as the runner-up in the club’s best and fairest.  The 28-year-old is now in contention for a place on the interchange.  The four players who receive the highest vote-weighted total to miss out on a starting position will be named on the interchange.

Voting is currently open for fans to select their midfielders of the decade.  Click here to vote now.
