THE AFL wishes to advise the match review panel has reviewed the weekend’s matches.

The following charges were laid:

David Hille, Essendon,
has been charged with a level one engaging in rough conduct offence against Mitch Robinson, Carlton, during the first quarter of the round 19 match between Essendon and Carlton, played at the MCG on Friday August 6, 2010.

In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a level one offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.

Jordan Roughead, Western Bulldogs, has been charged with a level one engaging in rough conduct offence against Brad Symes, Adelaide Crows, during the third quarter of the round 19 match between the Western Bulldogs and the Adelaide Crows, played at AAMI Stadium on Sunday August 8, 2010.

Other incidents assessed

The match day report laid against Essendon’s Sam Lonergan for engaging in rough conduct against Carlton’s Robert Warnock was assessed. The panel said contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Contact between Carlton’s Andrew Carazzo and Essendon’s Courtenay Dempsey, as well as contact between Dempsey and Carazzo, from the third quarter of Friday’s match was assessed. Following a medical report and the examination of all available footage, including that not shown as part of the match broadcast, it was determined that contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Contact between North Melbourne’s Michael Firrito and Fremantle’s Matthew Pavlich from the second quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said Pavlich was contesting mark as Firrito was moving towards the contest. Firrito stopped and held his ground and Pavlich collided with the North Melbourne player. The contact was not seen as a reportable offence and no further action was taken.

Contact between Hawthorn’s Luke Hodge and the Sydney Swans’ Adam Goodes from the second quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said Hodge’s action was seen as a tackling motion, and was not a striking action. No further action was taken.

Contact between Collingwood’s Sharrod Wellingham and umpire Shane McInerney from the three-quarter time break of Saturday’s match was assessed. The umpire did not report the contact made as part of his summary of the game, believing it did not interfere with his match-day role. It was the view of the panel that player Wellingham was explaining a tackling situation to the umpire. The contact did not interfere with the umpire performing his duties and the actions of the player were not demonstrative or threatening towards the umpire. No further action was taken.
