MELBOURNE has elevated rookie Austin Wonaeamirri to the senior list and placed long-serving duo James McDonald and Russell Robertson on the club's veterans list.

The Demons promoted the exciting small forward after his impressive debut season, where he became somewhat of a cult figure.

The Northern Territorian also received a NAB AFL Rising Star this year, despite starting 2008 as a rookie.

McDonald and Robertson have replaced club greats David Neitz and Adem Yze, who were both on the veterans list in 2008.

Jeff White, who is also no longer with the Demons, was also a veteran inside the club's list this year.

Shane Valenti, who made his debut for the Demons this year, will be retained on the club's rookie list for 2009. Ruckman Jake Spencer and fellow tall Trent Zomer have also been kept for a second year on Melbourne's rookie list.

Half-back/midfielder Chris Johnson, the son of former Demon Alan, has been delisted.

The club said in a statement: "Chris Johnson was offered a playing contract with the Melbourne Football Club for 2009. He and his management have since requested for Chris to be delisted, so that he could pursue other playing opportunities for the future."

Youngsters Jace Bode and Isaac Weetra were delisted immediately after the 2008 season.
