LEE SPURR has been rewarded with a one-year contract extension following his superb 2013 season.

The 26-year-old mature-age recruit was contracted until the end of 2014 but has signed on to remain at Fremantle until the end of 2015.

Spurr played 23 matches in his second season at Fremantle and won high praise from respected judges for his performances as a versatile small defender.

He was fourth at the club for rebounds from defence in 2013 and played a vital role in the Dockers finals campaign.

Originally from Queensland, Spurr played in multiple premierships for Central District in the SANFL before being picked up by Fremantle in the 2012 rookie draft as a 24-year-old.

He was elevated to the senior list in 2012 and played 13 matches including two finals before becoming a fixture in the Freo's side in 2013.
