The AFL advises it has completed the Match Review of the Saturday / Sunday round 15 matches. Please find below the charges laid and also those matters that were explained in detail.
Charges Laid:
Chad Wingard, Port Adelaide, has been charged with making careless contact with umpire Rob O’Gorman during the second quarter of the Round 15 match between Port Adelaide and Carlton, played at the MCG on Saturday June 30, 2018.

Other Incidents
Contact between Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver and St Kilda’s Daniel McKenzie from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. A free kick is paid to St Kilda when McKenzie picks up the ball and is confronted by Oliver, as play initially continues. Oliver tackles McKenzie to the ground in a careless tackle and a 50-metre penalty is paid to St Kilda, on top of the earlier free kick. It was the view of the match review officer that the contact in the tackle was below the force required for a charge to be laid. No further action was taken.
Contact between North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein and Essendon’s Zach Merrett from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. Goldstein contests the field bounce, with Merrett at the contest. Merrett seeks to gather the loose ball at ground level when Goldstein bumps the Essendon player. After viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from the Essendon Football Club, it was the view of the match review officer the force used was below that required for a charge to be laid. No further action was taken.
Contact between North Melbourne’s Todd Goldstein and Essendon’s Mark Baguley from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The ball is passed to Baguley, when Goldstein seeks to spoil the marking contest. It was the view of the match review officer that Goldstein made a legitimate attempt to spoil the ball. No further action was taken.
Contact between North Melbourne’s Ben Cunnington and Essendon’s Jake Stringer from the fourth quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. The ball is passed to Stringer by team mate Shaun McKernan, and the Essendon player takes the mark. As Stringer completes the mark, Cunnington bumps the Essendon player and a 50-metre penalty was paid at the time. After viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from the Essendon Football Club, it was the view of the match review officer the impact was below the force required for a charge to be laid. No further action was taken.
Contact between Fremantle’s Michael Walters and the Brisbane Lions’ Rhys Mathieson from the second quarter of Sunday’s match was assessed. Mathieson has the ball and is seeking to dispose of the ball as he is tackled. As Mathieson is being taken to the ground, Walters comes to the contest and makes high contact with the Brisbane player. After viewing all available footage and receiving a medical report from the Brisbane Lions’ Football Club, it was the view of the match review officer the impact was below the force required for a charge to be laid. No further action was taken.
