ST KILDA will risk $10,000 and challenge Jake Carlisle's two-match suspension for striking Richmond's Jack Riewoldt.
Carlisle's late attempt to spoil in the opening minutes of Saturday's game at the MCG collected Riewoldt in the head.
The premiership forward left the ground with concussion and did not return.
Match review officer Michael Christian has assessed the incident as careless conduct with high impact and high contact.
If the Saints can successfully argue the impact was medium or low they could secure a downgrade in Carlisle's penalty.
If the suspension remains Carlisle will miss St Kilda's two upcoming games against West Coast and Sydney.
The AFL Tribunal will meet at 5pm on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, nine players have accepted fines offered by Christian for offences during round 10, including Eagle Willie Rioli, who received fines of $1500 and $1000 for misconduct and careless umpire contact respectively.
Jack Riewoldt came off the ground after this incident involving Jake Carlisle.
