DEFENDER Andy Otten says he's hopeful his decision to re-sign with Adelaide for a further two years will encourage other out-of-contract players, including key-position players Taylor Walker and Daniel Talia, to commit to the club.

On Thursday, it was announced both Otten and former best and fairest winner Bernie Vince had agreed to contract extensions with the Crows.

While Vince had been linked to a potential move to Essendon, Otten's name was never mentioned in relation to any rival clubs.

Speaking ahead of Adelaide's flight to the Gold Coast on Friday morning, the 22-year-old confirmed he never considered leaving West Lakes.

"I always wanted to stay at the Crows. My manager asked me the question and never in my mind did I want to leave," Otten said.

"I'm really happy with the club. I'm really happy with where I'm at and the position I have in the team. I like Adelaide.

"I'm used to Adelaide now and want to be a part of the future we're starting to build."

Walker, who was rumoured to be a target of Greater Western Sydney before defender Phil Davis' defection to the AFL's 18th team a fortnight ago, has put off contract negotiations until the end of the season.

Talia and promising utilities Shaun McKernan and Jack Gunston are also yet to re-sign, but the club is confident all four players will remain at Adelaide.

Football operations manager Phil Harper has revealed the Crows are close to securing the signatures of several more players, and Otten said it was important for the club's future that the team stuck together.

"There's a bit of uncertainty at the moment," he said.

"We're not sure who is going to be coaching next year and with the new team [GWS] coming in I guess [some players] wait until the end of the year [to negotiate] … but the more that can re-sign now, it'll be great for the club.

"We're all pretty young still and I think we believe we're going to build something if we can all stay. We've got some really good young talent.

"I want to be a part of that and I think a few other guys do too."

Adelaide is in the process of selecting a coach to replace Neil Craig, who resigned after seven years in the position last month.

Otten denied the uncertainty surrounding the vacant senior coaching position had factored into his decision to re-sign with the Crows, saying the players were comfortable with the club's selection process.

"We just go on what we read in the papers. The club doesn't really tell us much [about the selection process] and rightly so because it's up to them," he said.

"We're probably as eager as anyone to find out, who is going to be stepping up, who is being interviewed even and who is going to coach us.

"The club has stated they're going to wait until the end of the year, which is fine by us.

"We'll come back at the start of pre-season training and meet whoever is going to be coaching us."

The Crows have recalled key players Kurt Tippett, Ben Rutten, Richard Douglas and David Mackay for the clash with the Suns at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.

The star quartet replaces injured duo Chris Knights (quad) and Ricky Henderson (groin), and Ivan Maric and Brodie Smith, who have been omitted.

"It's probably close to one of our strongest sides of the year," Otten said of the team.

'Tippo' is back in and 'Truck' [Rutten] was always going to come back in [from illness]. David Mackay has really great speed and adds a lot to our team, and 'Dougy' too."

Gold Coast has named Tippett's younger brother Joel to make his debut against the Crows.

Kurt flew to his home state earlier than the rest of the team to catch up with family, and Otten said the 203cm forward was looking forward to lining up against his younger brother, who plays predominantly in defence.

"It would be good, I guess playing brother-on-brother," said Otten, whose brother Max is on the rookie list at the Sydney Swans.

"There has been a few of those [sibling contests] this year and I'm sure Kurt wouldn't mind stitching up his brother."
