With almost every player possessing fond memories of State of Origin footy and growing up with ambition to wear a representative guernsey, this weekend's match will produce an environment that's "easy to get competitive in", according to Power.
"This is the best of the best," the Brisbane Lions co-captain said on Tuesday.
"It's a great honour to be selected in any representative side. To be considered amongst names like this is unbelievable, and something I'm very proud of. And something, I guess, everyone selected is very proud of."
Competitiveness might come naturally on Saturday, but Power is hoping Lions teammate and Dream Team squad member Jamie Charman, exercises a bit of caution around his 179cm frame.
"It's a bit tough for me. Jamie Charman is playing in the ruck for the Dream Team and he doesn't tuck his elbows in much," he said.
"I've been rooming with him all week and it's all he's been saying. He's been coming over and saying, 'Gee, I'm going to smash you'.
"If he's got the ball, you just play within the rules. You play hard but you play fair."
Power, who represented Australia in the International Rules Series in 2000 and 2003, said while the hybrid game is "great", the one-off Tribute Match concept comprehensively outweighs it.
"This is our game," he said,
"This is the best players in our game, and this is what we grew up playing and what we grew up loving.
"That's what this game is."
Fremantle skipper Pavlich, who is enduring a tough period with his club Fremantle picking up the pieces after a disastrous loss to Melbourne, said he's sure he'll be inspired once he runs out to face the Big V.
"[State of Origin] has been gone for a while, but the competition juices will definitely be running once we get on the ground on Saturday," he said.
"It's going to be hard to stop and I'm just rapt to be a part of it all … I'm really excited."
Pavlich said he can't wait to be involved in this weekend's match, and was pleased to answer questions about his representative appearance rather than ones regarding the Dockers' current state.
"Coming from South Australia, playing the Big V was always a fantastic opportunity and the matches that I remember watching at Footy Park when I was a young fella, I used to love going down there to watch them," he said.
"It's going to provide a great opportunity. It's going to involve the best players in the competition and just to be involved in the 30 that's going to be training tomorrow and on Friday is going to be an experience in itself.
"I'm really looking forward to it."
