AS CELEBRATIONS for Toyota Good for Footy Round continue during the week, local footy clubs are being encouraged to nominate dedicated volunteers in their community for the 2024 Toyota AFL National Volunteer of the Year Awards.

Since opening in May, hundreds of nominations across the 12 categories have flowed into the league’s state and territory organisations, with Monday 8 July being the final day to submit an entry.

Thanks to Toyota, for the first time in the award’s history, two winners nationally will walk away with a brand-new Toyota vehicle – recipients of the Toyota AFL Community Volunteer of the Year and Toyota AFL Young Leader of the Year.

The 13 national winners will all receive a once-in-a-lifetime Toyota AFL Grand Final experience where they will be able to soak up the incredible atmosphere and festivities of grand final week.

All national winners will receive:

  • Flights and accommodation for three days in Melbourne
  • Invitations to a welcome dinner where individual presentations will take place with all category winners
  • Acknowledgment of their dedication as they participate in the 2024 AFL Grand Final Parade with thousands of fans cheering them on
  • Tickets to the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final which includes a pre-match function and lunch

The AFL has more than 200,000 passionate and dedicated volunteers around the country who give up their time each week for our game and for their community.

To recognise these volunteers during Toyota Good for Footy Round, the first names of more than 100 registered volunteers will be printed in this week’s Footy Record, while there has also been ticket giveaways.

Volunteers also attended the Toyota Good for Footy Live event at Marvel Stadium last night, where they heard from AFL CEO Andrew Dillon and a host of AFL guest speakers.

AFL Executive General Manager of Game Development, Rob Auld, said Toyota Good for Footy Round provided another opportunity to recognise volunteers at local clubs across the country.

“We have more than 200,000 volunteers around Australia who help run our game, and thanks to Toyota, we’re able to celebrate their contribution through a variety of initiatives during Toyota Good for Footy Round,” Auld said.

“It’s also a chance to remind members of the community to nominate volunteers for the Toyota AFL National Volunteer of the Year Awards, as the deadline for nominations close on Monday July 8 – and this year two winners nationally will win a brand-new Toyota vehicle.

“I’d like to thank Toyota for supporting our volunteers, they are the backbone of our community and deserve to be celebrated and recognised for the work they do.”
