THE WESTERN Bulldogs will likely miss experienced midfielder Scott West for at least two weeks, after the veteran underwent minor knee surgery on Monday.

West, 33, had a clean-out operation three days after the Bulldogs' spirited 38-point win over St Kilda on Friday night.

The seven-time best-and-fairest winner is expected to miss at best a fortnight after pulling up sore following the match.

"He came off towards the end and he went back on again, but it was giving him trouble," Bulldogs football manager James Fantasia told the Herald Sun.

"When they had a look at it afterwards and he had a scan we decided he needed to have a clean out.

"It's another little blow. Hopefully it gives someone an opportunity, but we just can't take a trick at the moment."

Nathan Eagleton, who was close to rejoining the side for last Friday's game after missing round two with an ankle injury, is a strong chance to return this week.

However, young gun Shaun Higgins's own ankle injury will keep him sidelined for longer than originally thought, as further investigation revealed he has damaged both bone and ligaments.

The 20-year-old will miss between 12 and 14 weeks.
