COLLINGWOOD'S win over St Kilda on Saturday night was somewhat soured by another potentially serious injury to dangerous forward Alex Fasolo

Playing his first senior match of the season, Fasolo was forced from the ground after his right ankle twisted under him in a tackle during the second quarter.

Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley revealed post-match that Fasolo's injury is believed to be an ankle syndesmosis injury.

Fasolo, who had shoulder surgery during the off-season, earned himself a promotion following five games in the VFL.

It was the third week in succession that the Pies have lost a player mid-match (following Darcy Moore and Tom Phillips last week and Scott Pendlebury a fortnight ago).

St Kilda's season went from bad to worse at the weekend.

Not only were the Saints on the receiving end of another loss (their seventh of the season and fourth in succession), they were also dealt more injury woes.

Key defender Nathan Brown looks set to miss a few weeks after he suffered a medial ligament strain late in the third term, while

injury-plagued midfielder Nathan Freeman sustained an AC joint injury (the extent of which will be revealed by scans in the coming days) in the VFL.

Carlton captain Marc Murphy may require scans after he spent much of the first half off the field because of a niggle in his foot.

Murphy was playing his first game since aggravating a plantar fascia problem in his left foot during the warm-up of the Blues' loss to North Melbourne in round five.

Ladder leaders West Coast will keep a watch on Elliot Yeo, after the star on-baller hurt his right knee and ankle in a Josh Caddy tackle during the first quarter.

Yeo hobbled from the ground and went down to the rooms, but returned early in the second term.

An undermanned Greater Western Sydney was dealt another injury blow, with journeyman Sam Reid finishing the loss to the Roos on the bench icing a hamstring.

Key talls Jeremy Cameron (corkie) and Rory Lobb (arm) also copped knocks, but both are expected to be fine for this week's clash against Essendon.

Gold Coast veteran Matt Rosa – a late inclusion for Jack Martin (illness) – suffered a hamstring complaint in Gold Coast's loss in Shanghai.

Fremantle could be without Joel Hamling when it takes on North Melbourne on Sunday, after the defender was left concussed by an errant Lance Franklin elbow in the second quarter.

Port Adelaide will monitor Riley Bonner, who received treatment for an ankle injury in the first term, but managed to play out the game, and defender Tom Jonas, who finished the game with ice applied to his right shin.

In other injury news:

- North Melbourne's Jamie Macmillan spent time off the ground in the second term to get his blood nose strapped up but returned to play out the match.

- Sydney's Zak Jones came from the field in the fourth quarter term after a head knock and didn't return.

- Geelong's James Parsons received treatment on his hip/groin in the third quarter but played out the game.

- Carlton's Zac Fisher had his left calf strapped during the first quarter but returned soon after and finished the game.

- Young Hawthorn midfielder James Cousins received a knock to his head following a collision with Matt Eagles' shoulder in the third quarter. Cousins didn’t return.

- Richmond's Alex Rance copped a corkie late in the loss to West Coast, but should be fine to take on the Saints on Saturday.
