PORT Adelaide is remaining firm that its game plan for season 2016 will hold strong without Patrick Ryder and Angus Monfries, with the club denying a need to resort to contingencies.

The pair will miss this season as two of the 34 current and former Essendon players suspended by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Power captain Travis Boak said that with their number one ruckman Matthew Lobbe leading the way the club would stick to its guns and its plan of attack for the season.

He pushed for his side to rebound from the loss of key players as any "good" club would.

"We'll continue to move forward with what we've planned; I don't think we need to go to a plan B," Boak said.

"Obviously Paddy was a great ruckman, but 'Lobes' we consider the number one ruck at our club so he'll continue with that.

"'Gussy' for his leadership and small forward then another one needs to come in and stand up … just gives more opportunities for some younger players to come in.

"You sort of consider it a long-term injury for these guys.

"The good clubs … are the ones that lose a player, someone comes in and stands up and that's what we really need."

Boak said Monfries and Ryder would continue to spend time with each other away from the club – they're good friends after all.

But he stressed the club's need to move on and focus on preparing for season 2016.

The skipper said the suspended pair would expect nothing else.

"We're a close nit group here and we'll support them as much as we can and the club will support them as well but we've got to move on," he said.

"We've got bigger things and I'm sure they want us to be pretty successful."

Meanwhile, star recruit Charlie Dixon completed Friday's training session despite suffering a knock to his knee.
