The Cats first pick from the 2009 draft, Dan Menzel, will make his debut Saturday night against the Bulldogs after coming off the emergency list to replace Joel Corey.

Corey was removed from the team after pulling up with a calf complaint following Friday's final training session.

Menzel has excelled at VFL level kicking 27 goals from 14 games playing across half forward.

The teenager from Central District was Geelong’s first pick in last year’s draft and fits the mould of Cats such as Corey Enright, Joel Corey and Andrew Mackie who can all play in different positions. A skilful half-back, he gave South Australia plenty of drive from defence in last year’s NAB AFL Under-18 championships. Finished second overall for effective kicks (52), third for long kicks (28) and second in his side for rebound 50s (14). Has good endurance and football smarts.

Menzel becomes the Cats fifth player to debut this season joing Taylor Hunt, Dawson Simpson, Mitch Duncan and Steven Motlop.

Jeremy Laidler comes onto the emergency list to replace Corey.
