THE SYDNEY Swans have recalled two premiership players for their blockbuster clash with ladder leader Geelong, exciting Adelaide youngster Patrick Dangerfield is set to debut and Adam Simpson returns to lead North Melbourne in Thursday night's team selections.

The younger brother of Port Adelaide forward Justin Westhoff will also make his AFL debut when the Power hosts Collingwood in Friday night football at AAMI Stadium.

Matthew Westhoff, a 20-year-old beanpole much like Justin, is listed at 198cm and 81kg and has being named on the interchange bench for Mark Williams' side to take on the Magpies.

The Power have made three changes, recalling young gun Travis Boak and forgotten big man Brendon Lade.

Fabian Deluca and Paul Stewart have been dropped while promising young forward Nick Salter is out with a back injury.

Collingwood has made one change to the team that beat St Kilda last week, bringing in veteran Shane O’Bree for youngster Sharrod Wellingham.

The match will mark a milestone for evergreen defender Shane Wakelin, who will line up in his 250th AFL game.

Adelaide will unveil its first round pick from last year's NAB AFL Draft, with Patrick Dangerfield named on a half-forward flank to take on the Bombers.

The 18-year-old has continued to play with the Geelong Falcons since he was picked at No. 10 overall by the Crows and, in his final year of school, his selection is something of a surprise.

Brent Reilly is back from injury to boost the midfield, while Andrew Otten has been omitted and Bernie Vince is out with a hamstring strain.

Veteran midfielder Damien Peverill returns for Essendon while Rhys Magin drops back to the emergencies with Jason Johnson and Cale Hooker.

Melbourne welcomes back Brad Miller, Daniel Bell, Mark Jamar and Michael Newton for Saturday's encounter with the Eagles at the MCG.

Jeff White (knee), Lynden Dunn (ill), Chris Johnson (groin) and Nathan Carroll (omitted) all drop out of the side heavily defeated by Geelong.

Ruckman Paul Johnson will play after season-ending hip surgery was postponed until next week.

An already under-strength West Coast side has been further depleted by the loss of Ashley Hansen and David Wirrpanda to ankle and hamstring injuries.

Young forward Tony Notte, from WAFL club Swan Districts and picked 20th overall in last year's draft, will debut while Brett Ebert has been included for the 15th game of his debut season.

The Brisbane Lions have made three changes for their season-defining clash against the Bulldogs on Saturday night at the Gabba with Joel Macdonald, Matthew Moody and Robert Copeland named.

Josh Drummond is out with a quad injury that may sideline him for the rest of the year while Tim Notting and Lachlan Henderson have been dropped.

Important ruckman Ben Hudson is back for the Western Bulldogs after missing last week's loss to the Roos. The former Crow returns at the expense of Peter Street and Josh Hill comes in for Stephen Tiller.

The Sydney Swans are hoping experience will do the trick when they take on the reigning premier at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.

The Swans initially recalled co-captain Leo Barry, but ruled him out on Friday after the defender pulled up sore after Thursday night training. Fellow premiership stars Amon Buchanan and Nic Fosdike will take their places however, at the expense of  either Luke Brennan, Kieren Jack or Patrick Veszpremi.

Surprisingly, Geelong has made no change to the side that thrashed Melbourne by 116 points last week.

The Cats were expected to further strengthen their line-up with premiership duo Paul Chapman (hamstring) and Darren Milburn (suspension).

Milburn was listed with a groin complaint mid-week despite finishing the round 18 clash with Richmond unscathed.

Star forward Nathan Brown is out of Richmond's clash with the Hawks at the MCG on Sunday with a hip injury. He departs the side defeated by the Crows last week, as does Adam Pattison (back) and Jake King (omitted).

Jay Schulz goes straight into the starting 18 while Dean Polo, Daniel Connors, Tristan Cartledge, Danny Meyer and Angus Graham have all been named on an extended bench.

Hawthorn is yet to drop anyone from the side that defeated the Brisbane Lions and has added Michael Osborne, Travis Tuck and Clinton Young to a seven-man bench.

Carlton has included three players for Sunday’s must-win clash with North Melbourne at Telstra Dome.

Adam Bentick, Eddie Betts and Paul Bower have all been named, with coach Brett Ratten to finalise his team on Friday night.

North Melbourne has lost full-forward Nathan Thompson to an ankle injury, however, skipper Adam Simpson returns from a hip complaint.

Leigh Brown, Todd Goldstein and Blake Grima have also been included in the extended squad.

Fremantle midfielder Des Headland could play his first AFL match in more than four months after being named in the potential inclusions for Sunday’s clash with the Saints at Subiaco.

Jeff Farmer may also return with Antoni Grover, while Clayton Hinkley and Ryan Murphy will fight for other spots in the side.

Rugged midfielder Josh Carr (groin) joins Chris Tarrant (shoulder) on the sidelines.

And St Kilda will make at least two changes, with Aaron Fiora (suspension) and Jarryn Geary both out.

Five players – Shane Birss, Raphael Clarke, Matthew Ferguson, Charlie Gardiner and Michael Rix – are in contention for a recall.
