HAWTHORN has locked away captain and free agent defender Ben Stratton until at least the end of 2020.
Stratton, 30, a restricted free agent, has signed a one-year contract extension with the Hawks.
Hawks football manager Graham Wright said the decision to re-sign the club's skipper was a simple one.

"Ben is a highly valued player, clubman and teammate," Wright told the club's website.
"His captaincy is a reflection of the trust and respect his teammates and the club have for him, and we're looking forward to watching him grow in this role over the coming months.
"He leads by example, exemplified through his courage and commitment on the field, and he sets a great standard for those around him."
Stratton is set to return to the Hawks' side for Sunday's game against Carlton in Launceston, after being a late withdrawal against Geelong with concussion on Easter Monday.
