PORT Adelaide assistant coach and Brisbane Lions great Michael Voss has ambitions to be a senior coach again, acknowledging the top job "burns deep" in him.
The 41-year-old coached the Lions for almost five years before being sacked by the club in August 2013.
Voss, who joined the Power in 2015 as midfield manager, said he still had a strong desire to pursue a senior coaching role in the future.
"(I'm) never one to shy away from a big task. I still think that obviously burns deep for me," Voss told Fox Footy on Monday night.
"Whether another opportunity exists there or not, that will play out.
"The best thing I can possibly do right now is to continue to work on my own craft but purely with the interests of making our group better (at Port Adelaide).
"I feel like if I can improve as a coach and that can make our players a little bit better, then that's going to hold us in good stead for this year and then hopefully experience some success as a club."
Voss assumed the full-time coaching duties at the Lions in 2009, succeeding four-time premiership coach Leigh Matthews.
He coached the club in 109 matches for 43 wins, 65 losses and a draw, with two finals appearances in his first year at the helm.
Voss spent a year working in the media after parting ways with the Lions, before joining Ken Hinkley's coaching personnel at Port Adelaide.
The 1996 Brownlow medallist and triple premiership captain played 289 games over 15 years with the Lions.
