THE ‘Qantas Boots & Dreams Exhibition’ celebrates the tremendous influence the Indigenous community has had within the AFL. The unique exhibition features a pair of playing boots, painted by Indigenous artists, from the leading Indigenous player at each of the 16 AFL clubs. The result is a visually stunning combination of Indigenous culture, sport and art.
The exhibition was launched in May at Federation Square prior to Dreamtime at the ‘G and has toured prominent locations throughout the year including the SCG, AFL House, Qantas Domestic Lounges and it will conclude its tour back at Federation Square during Grand Final Week.
These boots are now being auctioned through the individual clubs with the money raised donated to the AFL Foundation, helping to support Indigenous Programs in the future.
Bid now for your chance to win the painted boots of Sydney Swans co-captain, Adam Goodes!
Adam’s boots have been painted by artist, David Williams. Exploring the theme of pride, the artist used red and white on a base of black to create a striking motif that stands out from the crowd. Adam is a great advocate for Indigenous players in sport and a role model who inspires and encourages young kids; this is represented in the artwork.
Please support your club’s Indigenous star, Adam Goodes and help facilitate the dreams of the next generation of Indigenous footballers in the AFL. These boots are one of a kind, so be sure to place your bid!
The online auction will close at 8pm on Tuesday 5th October 2010.
