In AFL, have you achieved everything you wanted to achieve? – James from Bellemere, Qld

Ash: Not really. I’m still playing, so you are always looking to achieve. I played in a premiership in my third year, which is what everyone sets out to achieve, but I don’t think I appreciated it enough back then. Now that I’ve got to 100 games and maybe will play quite a few more, it would be great to win another flag and really appreciate all the work and effort that has gone into the career.

Hey Ash. What did you think about the things Jason Akermanis said about you after the game last weekend? – Rodney from Coburg, Vic

Ash: I didn’t read about it but a few of the boys said Aker had said something. I don’t know what he’s talking about because I don’t remember any incident. If there was one, it was obviously an accident, but like I say, I honestly don’t remember anything.

What made you play footy? – Zoey from Brunswick, Vic

Ash: Growing up watching my old man play in the country. There wasn’t a lot of other things to do, and my brothers all played. Once I realised I was good at it, I set myself to do everything in my power to make it my career.

Who is your favourite AFL friend playing at the moment? – Dylan from Collingwood Park, Qld

Ash: Pretty much all the boys from the Brisbane Lions. I have opponents who are friends who I talk to on the odd occasion, but they’re a good bunch of boys at the Lions and they’re all my mates.

Hi Ash. Is it hard to talk to the media after you have lost a game? – Gavin from Townsville, Qld

Ash: Sometimes it is. You just want to stick to yourself if you’ve had a big loss, but talking to the media is part of the job, so you do what you have to do. I prefer to let the leaders do the talking though and I’m always happy to handball it over to them if I can.
