OF THE players overlooked in the 2008 NAB national draft, 33 are training with AFL clubs in the hope of being selected at the pre-season or rookie drafts on December 16.

While most are juniors looking for their first taste of senior football, some old names are still pursuing their dream of an AFL flag.

Ex-Bomber Andrew Lee is and former Richmond first-round choice Danny Meyer are both trying their luck with Port Adelaide. Meyer had previously been training with Hawthorn.

Two players who were surprisingly overlooked at the recent draft, Michael Gugliotta and Steven Gaertner, are training with Collingwood and St Kilda respectively.

But one name missing from the permission to train list is Claremont midfielder Matthew DeBoer. DeBoer was considered by many to be one of the unluckiest not to be drafted earlier in the month.
