WA Government says new stadium will deliver an "unrivalled experience for fans"
WESTERN Australia's State Government says its new state-of-art football stadium will deliver an "unrivalled experience for fans" including 1000 television screens, wifi access and luxury boxes.
The State Government has released its Requests for Proposals document that has been sent to three consortiums that are in line for the building contract of the new 60,000-seat stadium.
The stadium is to be built on Perth's Burswood Peninsula by 2018.
WA Premier Colin Barnett also hoped the Federal Government would contribute $100 million of funding towards the construction.
It is proposed that WA footy fans - some of whom still sit on wooden benches at Patersons Stadium - will be treated to a state-of-the-art facility that features two super screens, more than 1000 televisions dotted throughout the stadium and radio commentary being played in the toilet facilities so no fan misses any part of the action.
The stadium will also feature wifi access areas and mobile phone recharging stations for the smartphone generation.
Teams will have access to world-class change-rooms including recovery plunge pools and hot tubs.
There will also be premium facilities for fans including the Field Club, where fans can watch the players warm up, the Coaches Club, where fans sit alongside the coach's box, and a sky view lounge.
The consortiums have been asked to submit a full-costed proposal by mid-December.
The winning consortium is expected to be announced in June 2014 with construction to begin in December next year and completed by the start of the 2018 AFL season.
