Charges laid:
Hayden Ballantyne, Fremantle, has been charged with tripping Taylor Duryea, Hawthorn, during the third quarter of the First Preliminary Final between Fremantle and Hawthorn, played at Domain Stadium on Friday September 25, 2015.
In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Hawthorn Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as intentional conduct, low impact and body contact. The offence was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable bad record. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a $1000 sanction.
Other matters assessed:
The match day report laid against Fremantle’s Michael Walters for striking Hawthorn’s Taylor Duryea was assessed. After receiving a medical report from the Hawthorn Football Club and reviewing all available footage, it was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.
