Aliir Aliir – 8
His dash from defence was impressive. Stood up in the first quarter, and was prominent at a time when the Swans were under fire. Aliir caught Devon Smith unaware as the forward prepared himself for a shot at goal.
Lance Franklin – 7
Hit Papley up a couple of times for the first two goals of the game. Spectacular in the first half playing up the ground, but Phil Davis was able to negate the superstar when Franklin moved to the forward line. It was the first time Buddy has been held goalless in a final.
Heath Grundy – 8
Jonathon Patton loomed as a danger man after having come into the game in impressive form, but Grundy shut the Giant out completely.
Dan Hannebery – 8
It was a brutal game that suited Hannebery perfectly. With his ability to win the ball and run hard on the outside, the Swan excelled, racking up 31 disposals.
Isaac Heeney – 4
The youngster was quiet in the first half. He looked like stepping up in the third quarter but Heeney had a poor moment when he slipped over in defence with time ticking down in that term. Tom Scully capitalised with a goal that crushed the Swans' spirits.

George Hewett – 6
Had the job tailing Heath Shaw but Shaw had 26 disposals. Hewett was clean with his hands and he caught Nathan Wilson with a tackle in the second quarter to set up a shot at goal which the Swan duly converted.
Kieren Jack – 6
The hardness in the game suited the co-captain and Jack had 22 disposals. He also added a couple of goals.
Josh Kennedy – 8
A beast in the contest. Kennedy started on fire before having to leave the field after Steve Johnson collected him high. Kicked an important goal to close out the first half.

Jake Lloyd – 6
Picked up 26 disposals and nine rebound 50s, but Lloyd was occasionally shaky with his disposal.
Harrison Marsh – 4
Conceded a couple of free kicks and didn't look ready for the intensity of finals. A handball halfway through the last quarter missed the target completely, although he worked hard in an attempt to retrieve the ball.
Ben McGlynn – 5
Took a courageous mark in the third term but turned it over to Jeremy Cameron, which saw the Giants open up a 14-point lead. Nailed a set shot later on to keep the Swans in the contest.

Jarrad McVeigh – 6
He was his consistent self, if not overly spectacular. McVeigh had 23 disposals and the Swans were in good hands when the co-captain had the football.
Callum Mills – 2
After a week that saw him win the NAB AFL Rising Star award, Mills injured his right hamstring in the second quarter and his year is over. Before that, he had the tough match-up on Steve Johnson and he didn't seem to settle as well as he would have liked.
Tom Mitchell – 6
Was a willing contributor on the inside, picking up 24 disposals and 12 contested possessions.
Five things we learned: Sydney Swans v GWS
Sam Naismith – 6
Acquitted himself reasonably well in the ruck and made his presence felt in a couple of marking contests, particularly in the first quarter when he crashed a pack to set up Jack's goal.
Tom Papley – 6
Kicked the first goal of the game to help calm the Swans' nerves. Composed in his first final and finished with 16 disposals.
Luke Parker – 6
Solid without being special. He collected 22 disposals, 12 contested possessions and six inside 50s. His burst from a clearance allowed Ben McGlynn to kick a goal that kept the Swans in it.
Dane Rampe – 4
Up against Jeremy Cameron and the All Australian was dominated in the third term. Rampe was outmuscled on a couple of occasions. The Swan was taken off Cameron for the final term.
Xavier Richards – 5
Richards shanked a shot at goal early in the match in a quiet day. His inability to kick a goal meant Lance Franklin had to play as a permanent forward in the second half, despite Franklin having been in excellent touch playing up the ground.
Gary Rohan – 3
Fairly or unfairly, Rohan has a reputation of not playing well in finals, and he didn't redeem himself on Saturday. Looked nervous and at one stage was caught holding the ball by Jeremy Cameron, seemingly unaware that the Giant was closing.
Nick Smith – 6
Had the job on Toby Greene, who played well, although at times there wasn't much more Smith could have done. A chase down tackle on Cameron stopped a certain goal.
Kurt Tippett – 3
A shocking day for Tippett. He copped a knee to the head from Callan Ward which saw the Swan tested for concussion, before being nailed in a sling tackle from Shane Mumford. Barely had an impact on the game
