ST KILDA coach Ross Lyon has talked down his team’s chances against Adelaide this week, suggesting the Crows are in better form than his top-of-the-ladder team.

The Saints haven’t dropped a game all season, while Adelaide has won its last seven games, including a 117-point win over Fremantle last week.

"When you analyse their last seven weeks, if you want to break it down into attack and defence, we're number one in defence and they are number two," Lyon said.

"Attack we've slipped a bit, we're concerned about that so we want to start scoring a little bit more heavily again. They're fifth in attack and I think we've slipped to seventh or eighth.

"It’s not a big gap, so really on the surface coming in statistically over the last seven weeks they're better than us."

Defender Max Hudghton trained with the main group on Wednesday after missing the past three games with an ankle injury.

Lyon said he was a chance to be picked this week.

“Max is progressing well. There is a little bit to unfold. Like all of our players at some point, everyone sees himself in the team otherwise they are in the wrong business,” he said.

“He’s got to get back fit and well, playing with no injections and putting some form on. We’ve got to take all that in consideration and certainly at this stage, I haven’t been told he’s available this week but from what I’ve been told it’s more than likely.”
