THE Kangaroos remain winless after two rounds of the AFL season following a gallant 18-point loss to Port Adelaide in Adelaide on Sunday.

With brothers Shaun and Peter Burgoyne starring, the Power clinched their second win of the season, 17.20 (122) to 15.14 (104), before 25,054 spectators at AAMI Stadium.

Port Adelaide goal sneak Brett Ebert snared five majors, while both Burgoynes kicked two goals each. Teammates Danyle Pearce, David Rodan and Josh Mahoney also kicked two majors respectively.

The Kangaroos relied heavily on the efforts of Corey Jones and Brent Harvey, who each kicked four goals.

Jones' four goals came in the second quarter to keep the Roos within striking distance at half time.

Sparked by on-ballers Pearce, Steven Salopek and the Burgoynes, Port Adelaide sizzled in the second quarter to lead by 10 points at the long break, courtesy of four consecutive goals in 12 minutes.

The Power's midfielders provided a plethora of opportunities for their forwards but were inaccurate in front of goal, registering 8.12 to the Kangaroos' 7.8 in the first half.

Port Adelaide;s midfield dominance was more obvious on the third quarter scoreboard as the home side skipped to a 33-point lead in the 15th minute.

With ruckman Dean Brogan influential, the result appeared certain as Peter Burgoyne marked a successful comeback from hamstring surgery.

But Kangaroo veteran Brent Harvey spoiled any early celebrations by snaring two late goals to reduce the three-quarter time deficit to 15 points.

Harvey struck again in the opening minute of the final quarter to goal from a 50m penalty to bring the Roos within 10 points of Port.

The Roos crept within six points before Port steadied with late goals to Peter Burgoyne and Nathan Krakouer to seal the four points.
