Subiaco recruit Daniel Rich has been selected to make his senior AFL debut this Saturday night in the Lions' season opener against West Coast at the Gabba.

The 18 year-old has played in every pre-season match with the Club and has impressed the coaching staff with his incredible work rate on the training track.

Coincidentally, Rich will line up in his first AFL match against the team he supported as a kid.

The Lions’ list of 22 players also includes Vice-Captain Simon Black who, despite queries over his fitness, made himself available by successfully completing training on Wednesday night.

The most notable absentees from the Lions’ Round One team are Jamie Charman and Jared Brennan.

Charman has recently overcome a knee injury which sidelined him for much of the pre-season but has been named as an emergency due to lack of match conditioning while Brennan remains sidelined with a quad injury.

New Senior Coach Michael Voss will head into his first official AFL match at the helm of the Lions with a relatively experienced squad of players. Only Daniel Rich, Tom Collier (six games) and Bradd Dalziell (seven games) are relative newcomers to the AFL ranks.

The Lions full team list includes:
