SOUTH Australia has continued its winning ways at the NAB AFL Under-16 Championships, defeating Western Australia by 27 points at Blacktown Olympic Park.

Sam Mayes booted five goals for SA while Melbourne father-son prospect Jack Viney again featured in the best.

In Tuesday's other game, Vic Metro weathered an unusual second-quarter interruption to defeat Vic Country by 30 points.

The sprinkler system at Blacktown flooded the ground for 14 minutes in the second term but that didn't deter Metro's charge, with Joe Daniher booting another three goals.

Daniher, the son of Essendon and Sydney Swans stalwart Anthony, is eligible to be selected under the father-son rule by both clubs.

Darcy Bailey, the son of Melbourne coach Dean Bailey, was another familiar name among Metro's best players.
